If you are joining us at the Winter Skate Camp at Lake Bled (2–4 March 2026), ski and snowboard enthusiasts will be pleased to know there are plenty of snow sports in the area, so we thought we’d share some information to help you enjoy your trip.
Picture this: crisp mountain air, a frozen lake and snow-covered peaks all around. Then imagine swapping your skates for skis or a snowboard in the afternoon and carving turns down alpine slopes while the sun sets over the Julian Alps.
Morning on Ice, Afternoon on the Slopes
Lake Bled is already a fairytale spot, but in winter, it’s next-level magical. You’ll skate at an ice rink surrounded by snow-dusted mountains and the famous Bled Island peeking through the mist.
But here’s the best part: you don’t even have to leave town to ski.
Right in Bled itself, there’s Straža Hill, a small but super fun ski slope overlooking the lake. You can literally walk there from the rink, clip into skis or a snowboard, and ride down with a view straight out of a snow globe.
So, this camp is the ultimate two-for-one winter adventure.
Want More Slopes? You’ve Got Options
If you still have enough energy, or can lengthen your trip and crave a bit more altitude (and adrenaline), you’re in the right place. Lake Bled sits at the gateway to Slovenia’s best ski terrain and the options are endless.
Thanks to the Julian Alps International Ski Pass from sloalps.com, you can access 260 km of slopes across Slovenia, Italy, and Austria.
Here’s what’s nearby:
- Vogel (Bohinj): Big mountain vibes, just 35 minutes from Bled. Stunning views, great snow, and a mix of runs for all levels.
- Kranjska Gora: A world-famous resort about an hour away, perfect for skiers and snowboarders of every style.
- Cerkno & Soriška Planina: Smaller, quieter, and perfect for a chill day or learning new tricks.
